I’m surprised at that one. I would have expected the washing machine to use much more power than the kettle over a year.
By the way, what are you using to measure?
There’s only two of us. With more people in the house, that would rapidly increase. And that measurement of the kettle was taken on a weekend, our average is really probably about 0.3kWh. The device is http://www.maplin.co.uk/searchtemplate.asp?criteria=2000MU, and its currently connected to the combo fridge freezer.
It looks like an interesting device. I might get one of those. It would be handy to know how much things are costing, particularly “discretionary” devices – like a PC or VCR.
